The company commenced business in 1976 in Canada and by the mid-1980s had become the leading provider of reservation systems to tour operators in Canada. Further afield the company was helping clients in Europe and the USA.
Offices were opened in the USA and the UK in 1980 to provide services and support to the expanding client base, now established in those countries.
A development for American Airlines SABRE enabled North American travel agents to directly access and book travel through Canadian tour operators systems.
The UK office rapidly became a centre for bespoke work culminating in the development of the infoRM system for tourist boards. Following a change in strategy by its Canadian parent the UK office became majority owned by its working directors in 1991.
In 2000, after a period of reorganisation and consolidation that focused us on our successful products and allowed us to re-align our R & D efforts with our successful customers' requirements, Infocentre Travel Systems was purchased by Infocentre Limited. This enabled us to move a significant percentage of the company stock back into "participant" ownership, whilst attracting some key outside investors and management skills.
